OFT Selects! Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month

Now, that’s just showing off… But we like it!

If you haven’t heard of <a href="http://www more helpful hints.visitorlando.com/magicaldining/” title=”Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month” target=”_blank”>Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month, during September, some of Orlando’s best restaurants and chef’s team up to provide 3-course meals for $33 dining deals of some of their best selections. Plus, one dollar of each magical dining month meal is donated to local Ronald McDonald Houses! A great deal and a great cause!

Now in progress, you could check out a number of restaurants and dishes from hot spots like Funky Monkey Wine Company, The Boheme, Mingo’s and Hawk’s Landing Steakhouse, just to name a few. Check out the full list of participating restaurants here.

There’s a lot to choose from and they even break out the restaurants into areas like Downtown, Restaurant Row, the Theme Park area and, of course one of our favorites, Winter Park. Because we know too many options can leave your head spinning, we’ve went ahead and made a list of some of our personal favs that are a part of Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month!

OFT’s Magical Dining Month Picks

Luma on Park

Photo Credit- Colleen B. From YelpLuma on Park is located right off of Park Ave and it’s the sister restaurant of Prato (they’re on our food tour!). When you step inside of Luma for the first time, it’s not uncommon for your eyes to get a little big. The inside is beautiful with this cozy, but modern feel with open views of the kitchen. It’s seen as one of the more upscale and exclusive spots with great wine. They win tons of awards and recently won Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence 2014. Some other awards include U.S. Today’s “10 Best Foodie Spots in Orlando” plus they won 3 first place and 3 second place rankings in Orlando Magazine’s Dining Awards last year. How can you beat that?

It’s a little hard to offer suggestions for their Magical Dining Month promotion simply because their menu does change daily. From their sample menu, we’d say to go with the rainbow trout if you’re looking for something above the rest, but you’ll have to ask your waiter for specific selections of the 3-course, $33 deal on your visit.

Hamilton’s Kitchen

Short Rib From Hamilton's KitchenThis pick can be found right at the Alfond Inn in Winter Park. What has always intrigued us about this place is more than just the food — it’s its purpose. Hamilton’s is ran by Rollins College and the profits from the Inn actually go to the school that has really helped to put the beautiful town and area on the national radar. They are top-notch without the expensive price tag and their custom cocktails are a talking point with our group. If you can, try to sit on the outdoor patio and take in the beautiful surroundings as you dine. (Psst… This is a great destination for a stay-cation!)

Off of their $33/3-course menu, we suggest starting off with the slow-roasted pumpkin soup (where are our fall pumpkin lovers at?), then the spiced rub coulotte steak, polishing it all off with some key lime cheesecake! Chat us up on Facebook and let us know what you think afterward!

Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine

If you’ve ever journied down Park Ave after hitting up the farmer’s market, you’ve probably eye-balled the lavas bread being served at the tables along the sidewalk. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine is a staple of Park Ave and is locally-owned. They recently expanded and will be bringing a bigger bar to their scene shortly. If you check out their Magical Dining Month menu, you have a lot of options, but we suggest doing the falafel, okra saute with lamb, and the chocolate hazelnut baklava. Trust us, being disappointed simply isn’t an option.

What Makes Magical Dining Month So Magical

The deals are great and the food will blow you away, but that’s not really why we have such a soft spot for this annual event. First of all, the donations from the meal price for Ronald McDonald house go to a worthy cause for families in the area. Also, as many of you know, we’re all for supporting your local restaurants and Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month does that. It brings you face-to-face (or fork-to-plate) with all that Orlando dining has to offer and it opens your eyes to the culinary genius that we have right here in our backyard while helping community restaurants survive and thrive!

With a worthy cause, great deals and foodie thrills, you can’t go wrong with Magical Dining Month!
